What works in Relationship Education?
By Dave Percival
Introduction
Every now and then an event gets into my diary that makes the hairs on the back of my neck tingle with excitement – and the two days I have just spent as an invited guest at a private colloquium on “What Works in Relationship Education? Lessons from academics and service deliverers in the US and Europe” is one of those occasions.
The event was organised by Care for the Family at the request of the Doha International Institute for Family Studies and Development based in the Middle East (Doha, Qatar), and was held in the Jubilee Room in Westminster. Sponsored by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Sustainable Relationships it drew together leading world leading players in the field to share their current thinking and to debate together not only what works, but the policy implications and needs if Relationship Education is to form a part of tackling the tide of family breakdown affecting our societies.
This report is an interim summary of two days discussion, and inevitably leaves out far more than it can include. A full report, including all the speakers papers is now available here.
