Smile Guess Who's Back?

OK, I have taken a few days out to try and get myself sorted and failed miserably! However, due to the persistence of one particular forum friend I am looking at things from a slightly different perspective.

As most of you know I suffer from depression and my natural defense is to isolate myself. When I posted last time it was really when I needed help the most (lucky most of you have my MSN, Facebook and Mobile#) so no time for me to wallow in self pity.

I am determined to kick this dog off my back, so I humbly request that you ignore any messages from me regarding things like not posting anymore, ending friendships and acquaintances. This is the depression talking, not me. I am still in here somewhere!

One thought that has been reoccurring over the last few days is about not being able to have a meaningful relationship again, because of my mental condition. I hurt everyone around me and don't want to put anyone though the things that I am capable of. How a certain someone puts up with me is beyond my comprehension, but it helps me immeasurably.

I have decided to give myself the goal of visiting my relatives in Australia. Hopefully this will remove the day-to-day boredom and give my overactive mind something to focus on.

Re: Guess Who's Back?

Hey Mark, I don't know you and have happened along recently but have read through your history and get the picture with how things have been for you. I often read through here and feel humbled because of how some seem to have endured the most extreme situations and still survived. You are right up there my friend and although when I saw your post informing all of your departure did not feel qualified to comment, may I just say that it is great to see you doing an about turn and sticking with those that know and support you; Welcome back friend.

Re: Guess Who's Back?

By the way I also have relatives in Australia who I only see when they visit. I'd love to take my boys there and have been thinking about this lately. Something else in common. Take care sean

Re: Guess Who's Back?

Hi Mark,

Pleased that you have come back. I know I have benifited from visiting this forum and I give my friends here credit for keeping me sane. I have not experienced depression so I can only imagine how it is. Where do your relatives live in Australia. I am from Brisbane Queensland.

Re: Guess Who's Back?

Most of my relatives live in and around Mildura.

Its just a pipe dream to visit them at the moment, but it gives me something to focus on.

Re: Guess Who's Back?

Mark, you've come back

You know we won't let you wallow in self pity for long without cheering you up.

All the things AG said above and you could try listening to music, I find upbeat music helps me tremendously when I'm feeling low.

Take care.

PS: Sean I'm on facebook too
