Post Wedding costs

The average spending these days ona wedding is about £12,000 to £15,000. Is everyone spending that sort of money or are there extremes. Did you go over the top and do something really extravagant? Or, did you have a small budget wedding? Do you have any tips on how to make it special on a fixed budget?

When we got married we couldn'e afford a grand "do". we hired a local hall and asked folk to bring something along to share at the meal. Friends took the photos and arranged the flowers. Someone else made and iced the cake. Another friend helped with the wedding dress, and we borrowed a friend's caravan for a week away. It wasn't glamourous, but all our friends seemed to be involved in some way. At the end of the day we had lots of happy memories, which are still special several years down the road!
