Re: Recently separated after 17 years of marriage honest advice and views needed

I'm feeling very low in mood again today, but this feels different I haven't felt this way before and I don't understand what's going on inside I feel much more agitated than I normally do and I don't like it, I cant even go out for a walk as a distraction because I have to wait in for a delivery.

Do you know any breathing exercises? They may help.

I think Buddy the wonder dog is without doubt the best dog in the Universe, just as my 2 are the best kitties in the Universe.

And of course, Chosen's dog is also one of the best dogs in the universe, lest we forget.

And I completely agree about your kitties.

yes but she is a useless guard dog. She welcomes everyone and anyone into the house as if they are her long lost friends.

It's raining really heavy here, I hope that it rains heavily for the next 4 evenings, all those horrible noisy fireworks are really cruel to cats and dogs.

yes they are. Our present dog couldnt care less, and the last one either. The one before was deaf, the one before that wasnt bothered even though she was a wippet cross and generally a nervous dog, but our first dog, a jack russell cross, hated any bangs and used to shake and hide under out desk:-(

Our 2 hate them, I have to pull all the curtains and put a blackout curtain over the skylight in the front door, I also have to close all the doors on the landing so they cant see any windows up there and I leave a radio on tuned in to Classic FM to try to neutralise the noise a bit, just waiting for the barrage to start, unfortunately the rain seems to be easing off, I don't mind something that goes up in the sky and makes a nice colourful pattern or something, what we really hate are those that just go BANG BANG BANG BANG the perpetrators of those must be some fairly thick witted numbskulls to find those entertaining, I reckon they are just dense over grown kids who like to hear something go bang all the time.

Dulce et Decorum Est

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind.

Gas! Gas! Quick, boys!—An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And floundering like a man in fire or lime...
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,—
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie:
Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori
.

Re: Recently separated after 17 years of marriage honest advice and views needed

Aftermath

Have you forgotten yet?...

For the world’s events have rumbled on since those gagged days,
Like traffic checked while at the crossing of city-ways:
And the haunted gap in your mind has filled with thoughts that flow
Like clouds in the lit heaven of life; and you’re a man reprieved to go,Taking your peaceful share of Time, with joy to spare.

But the past is just the same-and War’s a bloody game...

Have you forgotten yet?...

Look down, and swear by the slain of the War that you’ll never forget.

Do you remember the dark months you held the sector at Mametz–
The nights you watched and wired and dug and piled sandbags on parapets?

Do you remember the rats; and the stench
Of corpses rotting in front of the front-line trench-
And dawn coming, dirty-white, and chill with a hopeless rain?
Do you ever stop and ask, ‘Is it all going to happen again?’

Do you remember that hour of din before the attack–
And the anger, the blind compassion that seized and shook you then As you peered at the doomed and haggard faces of your men?

Do you remember the stretcher-cases lurching back
With dying eyes and lolling heads—those ashen-grey
Masks of the lads who once were keen and kind and gay?

Have you forgotten yet?...

Look up, and swear by the green of the spring that you’ll never forget.

Remembering today my grandfather, a motorbike dispatch rider on the front in france whose lungs were damaged by the mustard gas in WW1. Died due to the lung damage leaving 5 little daughters. Mum was only 2 years old. SO sad. I hope I will met him one day.

Like so many of men and women he was a casualty of the Great War regardless of when it actually killed him, the same thing happened to a great uncle on my wifes side of the family, discharged from duty with wounds in 1916 he died of his wounds in 1936, as I do every year I have been over to the war memorial proudly wearing my poppy and medals, to me remembrance Sunday and November 11th are the most sacred days in the year, nothing else comes any where near in importance to them, and it has to be marked 100% correctly with due respect, diligence, and dignity, I sit on the WW1 local MBC committee and I keep the lefties on track, I was talking to the head of services at lunchtime and had great pleasure reminding him very politely of his responsibilities towards his duties and the up-keep of the website.

Re: Recently separated after 17 years of marriage honest advice and views needed

In Flanders Fields.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

John McRae 1872-1918.
